SUNS editor winner of 1997 G-77/UNDP Award for ECDC/TDCDC

The Twenty-first Annual Ministerial Meeting of the Group of 77, held in New York on 26 September 1997, decided to present the 1997 G-77/UNDP Award for TCDC/ECDC to Chakravarthi Raghavan, Editor of the South-North Development Monitor (SUNS).

The award was given in recognition of Mr. Raghavan's contribution to South-South cooperation through the publication of the SUNS.

The presentation of the award will take place in early January 1998 in conjunction with the turnover ceremony of the chairmanship of the Group of 77 from the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of Indonesia.

The annual Group of 77/UNDP Award for TCDC/ECDC is given to individuals and institutions that contribute to technical and economic cooperation among developing countries (TCDC/ECDC).

Mr. Raghavan is the first individual to earn the award. The two previous recipients, the Third World Network in 1996 and the South centre in 1995, were institutions.
