STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE GROUP OF 77 AND CHINA BY H.E. AMBASSADOR AMIRA GORNASS, DELEGATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF THE SUDAN, AT THE THIRD MEETING OF THE THIRTY-FIRST SESSION OF THE SUBSIDIARY BODY FOR SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL ADVICE (SBSTA) OF THE UN FRAMEWORK CONVENTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE (Copenhagen, Denmark, 12 December 2009)

Madam Chair,

On behalf of the Group of 77 and China, I would like to thank you for your wise guidance throughout this substantive process to reach conclusions on most of the issues. I would like also to extend our thanks to the Co-chairs of different agenda items and the Secretariat for their continuous help.

We understand that the work of the SBSTA in this session was constrained by the short time allocated and the overlap of issues with the discussions under AWG-LCA and AWG-KP. This situation did not allow in-depth considerations of some of the issues. However, Madam Chair, our Group looks forward for constructive engagement in subsequent sessions to advance the work of the SBSTA on current and future issues.

I thank you, Madam Chair.
