Mr. Co-Chairs,
I have the honor to deliver those general comments on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.
At the outset, I would like to thank co-Chairs, Ambassador Paul Badji and Ambassador Don Mackay, and all members of the DOALS for their hard work and dedication.
Mr. Co-Chairs,
The Group of G77 and China was constructively engaged in the work this session since the preparatory meeting and has shown a lot of flexibility in many issues with the aim of achieving progress.
The G77 and China has studied the Chair's summary carefully. In this regards, the Group thanks the Co-Chairs and express its satisfaction for capturing key points that emerged in the discussions during this week. The text reflects the position of G-77 and China expressed for issues under consideration.
Mr. Co-Chairs,
The Group of 77 and China will engage constructively in cooperation in the coming negotiations of the General Assembly on the Law of the Sea resolutions.
Finally, we don't have much time to go into the details of the summary. We would like to reiterate the importance that the G-77 and China attaches to the Informal Consultative Process and to the themes under review as capacity-building and assistance to developing states remain the cornerstone for the strengthening their abilities to benefit fully from the oceans and their resources.
Thank you.
